Solo Performance Mini-Lab
On Monday and Tuesday, October 31-November 1, 2017, twenty-two Chicago actors, directors, and playwrights gathered at the Greenhouse Theatre Center for an exploration of solo performance. Placed into teams, these brave artists created brand new solo plays in the matter of a couple hours on Monday evening, and performed them in front of a live audience and a panel of solo performance luminaries the following night.
Interspersed between the performances on Tuesday, Greenhouse’s Nick Thornton moderated a panel discussion on the various forms and considerations of solo performance. Sitting on the panel were Arlene Malinowski, Tekki Lomnicki, and Mark Chrisler, as well as Greenhouse’s Jacob Harvey and DLC’s Elizabeth Margolius.
For those out of town, watching that night’s Cubs game, or otherwise unable to attend the panel, you can listen to a recording of the discussion below. The recording is broken up into five parts, as the solo performances themselves were not recorded. You can listen on this website or download the files to your computer.
